For almost 70 years, Little Angels has been more than a school. Conceptualized out of unanticipated circumstances, it came to life at a time when Montessories or Kindergarten schools were not as ubiquitous as they are today. But the uniqueness continues to to be our anchor even today.
It All Began With A Mother's Dream
In the 1950s, when quality early childhood education was still a rarity in Mumbai, Mrs. Sulochana Sheti found herself searching for a school that reflected the kind of education she wanted for her own son.
Unable to find one, she made a courageous decision to create it – herself.
What began as a small nursery with just a handful of children soon became much more than a school. It became a place where children were encouraged to learn with curiosity, confidence, and joy—a philosophy that was ahead of its time and continues to guide us even today.
A VISIONARY WHO BELIEVED EVERY CHILD DESERVED THE BEST
Little Angels began in the 1950s with a simple yet powerful belief—that every child deserves an education that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and confidence.
Inspired by Dr. Maria Montessori’s philosophy, Mrs. Sulochana Sheti welcomed neighbourhood children into her home. As more families embraced her approach, a small nursery grew into a thriving primary school, laying the foundation for what would become Little Angels.
As the school grew, so did its vision. In 1959, The Angels’ Education Trust was established with the dream of creating a permanent home for future generations.
The school’s first campus opened in 1963, and its very first SSC batch achieved a 100% pass result the following year. Decades later, Mrs. Sheti’s vision of bringing every section of the school under one roof became a reality.
Born in 1910, Mrs. Sulochana Sheti challenged the conventions of her time to pursue education and dedicate her life to children. Her courage, resilience, and belief in progressive learning shaped not just a school, but a legacy that continues to inspire generations.
Today, that legacy lives on through Little Angels International School. Led by Dr. Roshan Bhakta and the Trustees, LAIS combines the globally recognised Cambridge curriculum with the values and philosophy that have guided Little Angels for over 70 years—preparing students to thrive with confidence, compassion, and a global perspective.
